How to Play Duel.io

New here? Start on this page. In this walkthrough you'll learn: where the menus are, how your loadout works, what happens when a match starts, how to loot, how teammates work, and what to watch for once the island starts trying to smoke you.

Shop Loadout Looting Storm
Main Menu Duel.io main menu Add screenshot:
/assets/howto-01-main-menu.png

Setup your Loadout First.

You can jump in fast, but it helps to know what each menu is doing. Duel.io is built around your loadout, so the Cards you open, equip, and bring with you actually matters once in-game.

Main Menu Duel.io main menu screen Add screenshot:
/assets/howto-01-main-menu.png

The Main Menu.

The main menu is your home base. This is where you queue up, check your profile, open the shop, manage your loadout, look at rewards, and plenty of other menus and options as well!

If you are brand new, check the shop and loadout before you slam the play button. Any rare Cards Obtained in the shop can then be added to your loadout.

Shop Duel.io shop and card packs Add screenshot:
/assets/howto-02-shop-packs.png

Open packs and build your collection.

The shop is where you grab packs and start filling out your collection. Packs give you more options for your loadout, which means more ways to play once you get into a match.

Don't over think it! Open what you can, check what you pulled, and head over to your loadout and pick the stuff that sounds useful.

Loadout Duel.io loadout screen Add screenshot:
/assets/howto-03-loadout.png

Set up your loadout before queueing.

Your loadout is the kit you are bringing into the game. Capacity matters, so you cannot just shove in everything and call it a day. You can increase your overall Loadout Weight with the "+" button to the Right of the weight value.

  • Capacity: your limit. If you go over, trim the build down.
  • Cards: your main source of Weapon & Support Abilities.
  • Balance: powerful abilities are good. but support can be just as good!
Modes Duel.io game mode buttons Add screenshot:
/assets/howto-04-game-modes.png

Pick how you want to play.

The three main mode buttons decide what kind of match you are jumping into. Solo is all you. Duo gives you a partner. Squads are Teams of 4.

If you are learning, solo is good for figuring out the map and loot. Team modes are better once you want revives, grouped fights, and backup when a fight gets messy.

From match found to landing together.

Match Found Duel.io match found popup Add screenshot:
/assets/howto-05-match-found.png

Match found means lock in.

When the match found popup appears, you are about to move from the menu into the pre-game wait area. Make sure you are ready!

Queue Area Duel.io queue server wait area Add screenshot:
/assets/howto-06-queue-area.png

The wait area is your warm-up.

The queue area gives everyone a second to load in before the real match begins. Use it to get your bearings, check who is around, and get ready for the plane.

Drop Plane Duel.io drop plane and parachute landing Add screenshot:
/assets/howto-21-drop-plane.png

Pick where to Drop & Deploy your Parachute!

Every match starts with the plane flying over the island. Once the doors open, you can choose when to jump and where you want to land. [Markers can help teammates know where your landing!]

  • Keyboard: press E or Space to jump.
  • Controller: press A or RT.
  • Mobile: tap the jump prompt when it appears.
  • After jumping: steer your parachute toward loot, teammates, or a safer landing spot.

Do not wait forever. If the plane reaches the end of its route, you will be forced out anyway. Pick a spot & Drop!

In Game Duel.io in-game start Add screenshot:
/assets/howto-07-in-game-start.png

Once you land, move.

The opening moments are simple: land near something useful, find loot, find cover, and do not wander around empty-handed. Crates, buildings, and tucked-away spots can all help you get started.

Team Spawn Duel.io teammates spawning together Add screenshot:
/assets/howto-08-team-spawn.png

Team modes start you together.

In duo and squad-style matches, teammates spawn close together. Stick together early if you want safer looting, faster fights, and a better chance at getting picked back up.

Loot Drops Duel.io dropped loot and pickup system Add screenshot:
/assets/howto-11-dropped-loot.png

Pick up, swap, and keep it moving.

Dropped loot can be picked up or swapped depending on what you already have. If something is better than your current item, take it. If it does not fit your build, leave it and keep moving.

Looting too long is how you get caught. Grab the good stuff and get back to watching your surroundings.

Share + Swap Duel.io player swapping and dropping cards from the hotbar Add screenshot:
/assets/howto-22-share-and-swap.png

Move cards around or drop them for somebody else.

Your hotbar is not locked in place. You can move creature cards around when you want a different order, or drop something you do not need so a teammate can grab it.

  • Swap creature slots: drag one creature card onto another creature slot.
  • Share a card: drag it outside the hotbar to drop it on the ground.
  • Keyboard or controller: select a card, then use the Drop action twice to confirm.
  • Changed your mind? use the Slot action to cancel before the drop goes through.

This is useful when a teammate needs a better creature, when your build is full, or when you want to bait someone into grabbing loot in a bad spot.

Crates, drops, buildings, and underground spots.

Crates Duel.io breaking crates Add screenshot:
/assets/howto-10-breaking-crates.png

Break crates whenever you need gear.

Crates are one of the easiest ways to get the inventory moving. Break them open, check what drops, & grab things that helps your current run! Early match crates can be the difference between being ready and getting caught lacking.

Loot Drops Duel.io dropped loot and pickup system Add screenshot:
/assets/howto-11-dropped-loot.png

Pick up, swap, and keep it moving.

Dropped loot can be picked up and/or swapped depending on what you already have. If something is better than your current item, take it. If it does not fit your build, leave it and keep moving. You can also Drop items by dragging them from your inventory!

Looting too long is how you get caught. Grab the good stuff and get back to business!

Buildings Duel.io loot inside buildings Add screenshot:
/assets/howto-12-building-loot.png

Buildings can hide good loot.

Do not only check the obvious spots outside. Buildings can have loot tucked inside, and sometimes stepping indoors gives you a second to take cover before rotating again.

Underground Duel.io underground entrance Add screenshot:
/assets/howto-13-underground-entrance.png

Some entrances lead underground.

Underground areas are worth checking when you want a different route, extra loot, or a way to shake someone chasing you. Just remember: going underground can also trap you if the storm or another player cuts off your exit.

Weapons, creatures, and reading the fight.

Melee Duel.io melee weapons Add screenshot:
/assets/howto-14-melee-weapons.png

Melee is for close pressure.

Melee weapons are simple: get close, swing, and punish anyone who lets you stay on top of them. They are great for tight situations, also great for breaking Crates & Looting quicker!

Creature Combat Duel.io player fighting another player with creature combat Add screenshot:
/assets/howto-15-creature-combat.png

Duel.io uses a unique combat system of using TCG Creature Cards & the ability to summon those. Each Creature has a unique Effect, Stats, & Rarity as well. Learning how each Creature works can better your chances!

Storms, drops, disasters, hiding, and pickups.

Storm Duel.io player running from the storm Add screenshot:
/assets/howto-16-storm.png

Do not let the storm babysit you.

The storm closes the match down and forces everyone into tighter areas. If you wait too long, you will be running for your life instead of choosing your next fight.

Rotate early when you can. Getting into the safe area with time to loot is way better than crawling in late looking for a teammate revive.

Care Package Duel.io care package drop Add screenshot:
/assets/howto-17-care-package.png

Care packages are loud for a reason.

Drops can be worth chasing, but they attract attention. If you go for one, assume someone else noticed it too. Grab the reward fast or use the drop as bait if you are feeling bold.

Matches can shift into night too.

Night time changes the whole mood of the island. bring on the Darkness...

Use the darker lighting to reposition, heal, or sneak through areas where you do not want to take a fight yet. But be weary what may be lurking..
